The Temescal District in the heart of historic North Oakland, offers cool shops, global eats and hip happenings. The Temescal renaissance has been sparked by business and residential revitalization efforts which have enhanced the district's pedestrian-friendly character while preserving its historic past. The district's street trees, traditional glass storefronts, gourmet eateries, colorful street banners and planters create a unique ambience.
The Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District promotes, improves and organizes the commercial district which stretches on Telegraph Avenue from 40th to 66th Street and includes small portions Shattuck Ave, 51st St, Claremont and also Children's Hospital. Temescal is a vibrant place with a rich history and evolving demographics. The architectural charm, the street ambiance, access to the freeway and BART, are all assets which make this an attractive and desirable business district.
The Temescal Telegraph District represents a diverse and eclectic mix of Bay Area businesses and residents. With its unique location and cultural environment, residents and patrons can expect a vibrant cultural experience.

The 3rd Annual Gym Class Fitness Turkey Trot, Temescal was a hit!
The rain kept away some would-be trotters; the most dedicated were unfazed. Many repeat trotters, families, smiling faces, even a few Thanksgiving themed costumes. Congratulations to our prize winners who won free boot camps, massages and treats. A big thank you to everyone for keeping this local tradition relaxed, fun and healthy. Thanks to participating partners - all local Temescal businesses - working hard to build the best community in the East Bay: The Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District, Kamasajei BioDynamics and Massage, Viridian Creative Services for Marketing, The Mixing Bowl and Mariposa Bakery.
